CERECO S.A. is a contract research organisation (CRO). With an initial capital shared by the state as well by eighteen of the largest Greek companies in the area of ceramics and refractories, CERECO S.A. is a technological company providing scientific and technical support to the industry and SMEs which produce or use technical ceramics, composite materials, traditional ceramics, structural clay products, refractories, cements and concrete.
CERECO currently employs 25 people and offers today a complete range of services such as: Industrial Research, Transfer of Modern Technology, Certification and Quality Control. From 1986 till now, CERECO has carried out high-level research and gained significant experience on every stage of ceramics preparation procedure through various European and National R&D programs. CERECO has a considerable experience in the management of European as well as National R&D programmes and has a key role in the exploitation of results and the dissemination of relevant information to the Greek and/or European industry (STREP, GROWTH, BRITE-EURAM, JOULE etc).
The company’s laboratories are fully equipped to carry out high level research on every stage of the ceramics production procedure. Concerning shaping techniques, both traditional shaping and modern shaping techniques are employed for the production of green bodies with simple or intricate shape. Ceramic manufacturing facilities include also high-technology furnaces, powder synthesis equipment, equipment for producing sols-solutions-suspensions using liquid chemistry routes as well as thermal spraying facilities, surface technology laboratory and an excimer laser and micromachining system are also available at CERECO’s labs. In addition, a number of high technology analytical techniques are available for physicochemical, micro-structural, tribological and mechanical characterizations.
